Wimbledon 2024 – Men’s Betting Favourites

The third Grand Slam for the year, . It is the only major title played on Grass Court. As the tournament edges closer, Novak Djokovic, a seventh-time winner, arrives as the favorite to reign supreme despite not at his best form this year. The defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz is also a player in contention for the title. Let’s look at men’s favourite.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic will enter the Wimbledon Open main draw as the prime favorite to extend his winning record to eight titles in England. It’s where he enjoyed his second successful Grand Slam titles, after the Australian Open when he won 10 in total. The 37-year-old Serb is chasing history of the 25th Grand Slam title and he seems not done as yet. His build-up to the tournament though hasn’t been smooth sailing so far. This year, he has failed to replicate the 2023 success where he claimed three major trophies and lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon. Plus, the injuries have been a major factor in his performance this year. In the French Open, he pulled out of the Quarter-finals before taking to Casper Ruud due to knee problems. Now he heads to England after operating with the hope of leaving the mark. Nevertheless, he is still a big contender to deliver another title.

Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz will think of last year’s memories when participating in Wimbledon Open next week. The young Spaniard did the unthinkable by defeating Novak Djokovic to claim the maiden title in 2023. So, he will arrive in the competition with huge momentum and pressure on his shoulders since he is the defending Champion. The 21-year-old Alcaraz has enjoyed a stellar season so far as he recently claimed the French Open title. At his age, he has three Grand Slam titles with only Australian Open left to complete all four. He should be worried a bit as last week he suffered a shocking round of 16 loss to Jack Draper in the Queen’s Championship. It was his first tournament on Grass and was a preparation for Wimbledon. Time will tell if he has overcome that disappointment and is ready to deliver when it matters. But as a world-class player, he knows what is expected of him when taking the court.

Jannik Sinner

Things are going well for Jannik Sinner this year. At the start of the year, he claimed a maiden Australian Open title and then further became the world number one. As one of the exciting players, Sinner is proving to be a major threat and tipped as one of the young generations to dominate the game for the next decade. The 22-year-old Italian reached the French Open semi-finals in May where he lost to the eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz. He returns to Wimbledon in high spirits and the form of his life. He claimed the Halle Open trophy as preparation for Wimbledon defeating Hubert Hurkacz on straight sets 7-6, 7-6. That performance will be a major morale boost for him. He will want to go further in the tournament as he fell in the semi-finals last year to Novak Djokovic. As one of the most dangerous players in the world, Sinner will be a tough opponent to beat.

Daniil Medvedev

Will Daniil Medvedev finally taste a maiden Wimbledon Open Grand Slam trophy? There are a lot of expectations when Medvedev heads to a major competition. In Wimbledon, the 28-year-old Russian ace has reached the semi-finals once which happened last year losing to Novak Djokovic. He will be looking to go even further this time around. This year, he has already reached a final in the major tournament losing to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open. He will now go to Wimbledon Open as one of the players to watch. On the court, he is one of the players with a great fighting spirit and a good competitor. His build-up to competition has not been great, he fell short in the round 16 of the Halle Open to Zhang Zhizhen in his first Grass competition this year.

Alexander Zverev 

Alexander Zverev is considered as one of the best players yet to test the Grand Slam title. This year, he has fallen twice in claiming a major title losing in both Australian and French Open titles. He will want to put away all the disappointment when taking part in the Wimbledon Open. His record in the competition isn’t impressive though. He hasn’t gone past the fourth round and have to dig deep to come close to winning the title. In his first Grass tournament of the year, Zverev reached the Halle Open semi-final losing to Hubert Hurkacz. He has to be at his best to win the title. But over the years, he has demonstrated good quality tennis which has made him one of the fearless competitors on the court.
