Life without Virgil van Dijk begins on Wednesday for Liverpool as the Reds travel to the Dutchman’s homeland to face Ajax. Manchester City will be looking to go one better from their exit in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League last season when they get their group stage campaign underway against FC Porto. Pep Guardiola has been dealt with a massive injury blow with Kevin De Bruyne expected to miss the next couple of games, although City did welcome back Sergio Aguero in their 1-0 win over Arsenal on the weekend. FC Porto have started their season off indifferently, winning just two of their opening four matches.

18:55 – RB Salzburg v Lokomotiv Moscow

High-flying FC Salzburg kick-start their UEFA Champions League campaign with a fairly favourable tie against Lokomotiv Moscow. The Austrian champions have been outstanding in the current season, winning all four of their opening league ties, scoring 17 times. Lokomotiv Moscow began their season off on a rocky start, but have since picked up their form, winning four successive league matches. Away from home, they’re still yet to fully convince, winning just two of their five ties, scoring just five goals.
