PSL Betting Tips Predictions

DSTV Premiership is back, combs through the numbers and we come up with the best bets for your multis and bet slips as well as providing value bets.

Supersport v Kaizer Chiefs

The headline match of the weekend sees Supersport host Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. Supersport have won 15 points from their opening seven games, their joint-best total at this stage in their PSL history (also last season & 2011/12). Yet, this decent run of form goes back a bit longer – they have lost just one of their 15 games played since 24 April, winning six, drawing eight.

The team looking to disrupt that run on Sunday will be led by a familiar face. Stuart Baxter spent 18 months as head coach at the club, leaving the season just before Kaitano Tembo took over. Historically, Supersport have enjoyed this one – no team has won more league matches against Chiefs than Matsatsantsa (19) and no team has scored more goals against Chiefs than them (62).

5 – Supersport are on a run of five consecutive home wins, their joint-best such run under Tembo.

While Bradley Grobler is yet to score this season, things are beginning to click for Tembo’s team in front of goals, especially at home. The last time Supersport failed to score in a home league game was in April 2021 v Arrows, and they’ve scored Over 1.5 in all three home games this season (four in a row if you include the last home game of last season).

2018 – The last time this fixture saw a clean sheet was in December 2018, with both teams scoring in the last five ties.

Cape Town City v Golden Arrows

This fixture was on course to be an MTN8 final curtain-raiser if Arrows had managed to beat Sundowns. Instead, they lost 3-0 in their second leg, while City were romping to a 4-0 win in the corresponding semi-final. Since then, however, the Citizens are winless in two matches, while Arrows have also flattered to deceive, beating Marumo Gallants before losing to Sundowns midweek. In fact, Arrows have won just one of their last 10 away from home (all comps) and conceded 4 goals in a match that saw Over 5.5 goals the last time they visited City.

0 – Arrows are the only team yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

Chippa United v Swallows FC

Both of these sides have had flaky starts to the season, and we’re being kind. A quick glance shows they are two and three points above the relegation zone respectively. If one win in the last 16 matches between them doesn’t reveal their struggles, then the 4-0 defeats they both recently suffered should. The fixture has “Draw” written all over it, but one wonders where the goals will come from.

1.5 – Chippa (17 games) and Swallows (18) have not scored Over 1.5 goals in league matches since the last meeting between the sides in March 2021, which ended 2-2.

Maritzburg United v TS Galaxy

Since Heritage Day, Maritzburg’s fixture list has not been the kindest. They have played the teams that currently occupy 2nd, 3rd and 6th on the table, and their next match after this weekend is against the team in 1st. This is their most realistic chance for 3 points as they host the bottom side TS Galaxy, especially considering Middendorp’s men have lost just one of the last ten at home (W4 D5).

12 – TS Galaxy have conceded 12 goals this season, more than any other team
