PSL Multi and Value Bets by OptaJabu

PSL Multiple and Value Bets by OptaJabu. Bet Central & OptaJabu crunch the numbers to give you the best bets for weekend’s games.

A Cape derby and a KZN derby are the main attractions in the PSL this weekend, but not the only ones. Pirates travel to a team against which they always win, Chiefs host a league “newbie” needing the rebound result, while Sundowns are home to TS Galaxy. As usual, Optajabu brings all the numbers to preview the weekend’s games in our weekly betting guide. Who will you back?

OptaJabu combs through the numbers and we come up with the best bets for your multis and bet slips as well as providing value bets.

15:00 – Chippa United v Orlando Pirates

The Buccaneers returned to winning ways this past weekend, where the ever sharp Tshego Mabasa continued his scoring streak. With Sundowns on the horizon, they’ll want to continue the momentum and what better team to face than Chippa. Pirates have won 10 successive league matches against Chippa, their longest winning run against a single opponent in PSL history. They have scored Over 1.5 goals in six of those, and this looks like a straightforward win except Chippa have a new coach.

Gavin Hunt has won 20 games in all competitions against Orlando Pirates in his coaching career. Against no other PSL club has he won more. Pirates should have the quality, but Chippa will not just roll over.

17:00 – Cape Town City v Stellenbosch

It’s been a decent start for the Cape sides this season, who are both unbeaten a month in. The big plus for Stellies so far is that they have started finding the net. They are not exactly blowing teams away, but scoring first in all three games tells a story. Remember, they did not find the net from open play in the last 9 games of the previous season. Four in three this term is a positive step forward. Yet, Barker is winless against Tinkler (D2 L2), and the Citizens are well rested. Or will they be rusty?

21 – It will be 21 days between the weekend game and City’s last game, the longest break in between games of any team this season.

And, there’s never been a goalless draw in the previous four editions of this fixture.

17:00 – Kaizer Chiefs v Royal AM

The pressure is firmly on Kaizer Chiefs after their loss against Sundowns last weekend. They will be desperate to get a win when they host a league “newbie” this weekend. We say “newbie” because it’s the entity that is new, while most of its components are not. When you consider Chiefs’ home record against Bloemfontein Celtic (who were bought by Royal AM), it’s hard to see the new entity getting something out this weekend. Chiefs never lost a home match to Celtic in the PSL era (P22 W15 D7). In fact, they won more home matches against Celtic than they have against any other PSL side.

0 – Stuart Baxter’s Chiefs teams kept a clean sheet in every one of the six games Chiefs played against Celtic.

15:00 – Swallows FC v Supersport United

Neither of these teams have started the season too well, but Swallows are slightly better, given they are in the MTN8 semi-finals, unlike their visitors who were knocked out. December 2019 was the last time the Birds lost a home game. It’s so far back, the coronavirus was only just a rumour coming out of Wuhan. They host a side who are struggling on their travels, and if I were a Supersport fan, I would be worried about this trend:

13 – Supersport are winless in their last 13 matches away from home (D8 L5, all comps), last winning on the road in January 2021. It’s their longest run without an away win in their PSL history.

January was the last time Supersport scored over 1.5 goals in an away league game, while Swallows have conceded Over 1.5 goals only once since their promotion.

17:00 – Mamelodi Sundowns v TS Galaxy

The defending champions recorded an impressive win over Chiefs last weekend and shot to the top of the table. Against Chiefs, Downs had two shots on target and scored two goals from these. Even where Downs don’t create much, they still find a way to win and it is the defence that must be given credit for this outcome.

1 – Sundowns have conceded just one goal in their last 11 league matches. They’ve also scored Over 1.5 goals in five of their last six home games in all competitions.

It’s hard to see a scenario where Sundowns concede a goal against The Rockets, let alone how they can lose.
