It’s that time of the week again when we run through a selection of the most exciting matches taking place this weekend and offer our best bets and value picks.

Arsenal v Leicester City (Saturday)

Arsenal play Leicester City in their first home game of the 2022/23 Premier League season on Saturday. There’s a lot of hype around Mikel Arteta’s side following their excellent transfer business, fine pre-season and winning start to the campaign. Leicester, on the other hand, are expected to struggle this season. Jamie Vardy is now 35 years old, while Wesley Fofana and Youri Tielemans could follow Kasper Schmeichel out the exit door.

Brentford v Manchester United (Saturday)

Following a disappointing start to the season, Manchester United will be hoping to avoid another setback when they travel to Brentford on Saturday. The Red Devils tasted defeat in their first game of the new season, losing 2-1 at the hands of Brighton, while Brentford came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Leicester. The Bees will look to pile more misery on United but will need to be wary of former talisman Christian Eriksen who now dons the famous red jersey.

Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano (Saturday)

Barcelona get their campaign up and running against Rayo Vallecano who stunned the Catalan giants last season, beating them both home and away. Barca should overcome the upset threat posed by Rayo this time around as they start their quest for a first LaLiga title since 2018/19.

Getafe v Atletico Madrid (Sunday)

Atletico Madrid get their season underway against cross-town rivals Getafe on Sunday and will look to make a winning start as they aim to claim their 12th league title. Diego Simeone’s men are unbeaten in 21 meetings with the Azulones, registering 18 wins.

Freiburg v Borussia Dortmund (Friday)

The second round of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season kicks off on Friday when Borussia Dortmund take on Freiburg. Both sides started the campaign on a winning note with Freiburg hammering Augsburg 4-0, while Dortmund beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0. There should be goals in this tie as both sides thrive on attacking football.

Bayern Munich v Wolfsburg (Sunday)

Bayern Munich host Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday with the Bavarians looking to build on their emphatic 6-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Julian Nagelsmann’s champions ran rampant in a game which saw them go 5-0 up at half-time and they’ll be looking for another quick start against a Wolfsburg side that conceded two early goals against Werder Bremen last time out.

Lecce v Inter Milan (Saturday)

Inter Milan take on newly-promoted Lecce in their opening game of the 2022/23 Serie A campaign. Simone Inzaghi’s side are looking to go one better than last season having lost the league title by two agonising points to cross-city rivals AC Milan. Lecce, meanwhile, romped to the Serie B title last season but now face an immediate examination of their top-flight credentials.

Fiorentina v Cremonese (Sunday)

Fiorentina host newly-promoted Cremonese on the opening weekend of the 2022/23 Serie A season. The home side will hope to improve on last season’s seventh-place finish, and against the newcomers, are expected to get off to a positive start.

Paris Saint-Germain v Montpellier (Saturday)

Paris Saint-Germain will welcome Montpellier to the Parc des Princes for their first home game of the new Ligue 1 season. Christophe Galtier’s star-studded side are overwhelming favourites to see off the minnows, and you can expect them to do so with minimal fuss.

Brest v Marseille (Sunday)

Marseille will look to continue their impressive start to the season when they travel to face Brest in Ligue 1 action on Sunday. Having finished runners-up in the league last season, the Olympians are looking to go one better this term, and their 4-1 win over Reims last weekend was the perfect start.
