Copa America 2021 is now heading to Brazil after Covid-19 forced multiple hosts to pull out leaving the competition under threat. Nonetheless, with less than two weeks to go until kick-off, the South America competition remains an exciting tournament for football lovers with some of the worlds best talent on display.
We highlight three of the tournament favourites and their odds ahead of 13 June.
Brazil
Brazil enters the competition as favourites and are the defending champions having enjoyed an incredible campaign in 2019. They’ve won this competition nine times and 10 looks very likely with such an impressive array of stars.
Once again, spearheaded by Neymar, The Selecao are a talented group of with the likes of Richarlison, Allison Becker and Marquinhos able to back up a fit Neymar in their quest to defend their title.
Argentina
It’s been tough going for some time now for Argentina , added to this they have not won the Copa America since 1993 and instead been the runners-up four times.
As always, Argentina are blessed with the talent to choose from such as Inter hitman Lautaro Martinez, Serie A star Rodrigo De Paul and many others… oh, Lionel Messi too.
2021 could be the ideal time to bury their Copa America nightmare having lost two final losses in 2015 and 2016 on penalties.
Uruguay
Uruguay have won Copa America 16 times and reached a total of 21 finals. However, most of their success comes before the turn of the millennium because they have only reached one final since 2011.
Counting in their favour is a squad loaded with experience and talent. Veteran strikers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez were both excellent for their respective clubs this season. Their midfield is stacked with talent in Rodrigo Bentancur and Fede Valverde. While at the back, the doggedness of Diego Godin next to the impressive Jose Maria Gimenez makes the Uruguayan spine look solid.
