Sunday offers a glorious opportunity for punters in the men’s singles final of the Olympic tennis tournament.
Meanwhile, the big event is the final of the men’s 100m and Trayvon Bromell is the favourite.
It may also be time to start hedging bets in the men’s 800m even though the final is not yet upon us. The semi-finals will take place over the course of tomorrow.
Men’s Tennis: Alexander Zverev v Karen Khachanov
After eliminating favourite Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev is the clear favourite for this match against Karen Khachanov, who is not among the top players in the world and has so far had a fairly smooth ride at the Olympics.
So far, the only set which Zverev has dropped throughout the course of the entire tournament was against Djokovic. He has won every other match in straight sets and it is likely that this one will be no different.
Men’s 100m Sprint
Trayvon Bromell is the favourite for the men’s 100m having covered this distance in 9.77 seconds recently. The absence of banned world champion Christian Coleman means this race is his to lose.
Keep an eye out for South Africa’s Shaun Maswanganyi, Akani Simbine and Gift Leotlela in the semi-finals. However, Bromell is most likely to win the main race.
Men’s 800m
One race where we are likely to see an African winner is the men’s 800m, for which the semi-finals will take place on Sunday.
Nijel Amos of Botswana is in fine form and cruised into the semi-finals. He has picked up a silver medal before at the 2012 Olympics and is the most in-form men’s athlete in this particular distance. It is worth backing him sooner rather than later.
