Kolisi became the 61st South African captain and made history by becoming the first black captain of the Springboks. In a momentous moment he lead the team out the team against England at Ellis Park on the 9th of June 2018.
In a transitional year for the team under new coach Rassie Erasmus, his win record stands at 53% win 7 wins from 13 Tests.
Remarkably, and as an indication of how much rugby is played in the modern game, Kolisi leapfrogged 50 former Springbok captains and currently stands as the 10th most capped Bok captain of all time. He has already led the Springboks out on more occasions than Adriaan Strauss, Eben Etzebeth, Joost van der Westhuizen, Naas Botha and Bob Skinstad.
The Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year launched in 2017 and was won by the Barcelona u12 team for a moment of sportsmanship in consoling a defeated opposition team.
