THE COOLER: BOKS FLOP, PIRATES TRIUMPH, SPURS STOP CHELSEA…
Well that was a bit of a disappointing way to end the November tour with the Springboks going down rather mildly to Wales. There have been some big improvements this year – even if the results don’t strictly show that winning only 50% of their Tests. Fiji’s defeat of France also calls into question the 2/4 wins the Boks scored this tour. Elsewhere there was Soweto Derby joy for Pirates and London derby joy for Spurs. It’s a good thing we’re talking about derby games with the North London and Merseyside derbies coming our way on Sunday!

Moussa Sissoko hogged the headlines after an all-action display in Tottenham’s defeat of Chelsea at the weekend. Jonathan Liew of the Independent has written an exquisite piece on the French midfielder which name checks Monet, Caravaggio and David Brent – to name a few.

South African rugby has a new hero in Aphiwe Dyantyi. The flying winger capped a sensational season by being awarded the 2018 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year. Most of all his fully committed style of play and nose for the try line endeared him to Lions and Bok fans alike.
