JIMMY TAU: HUGE EXCITEMENT FOR MTN8 FINAL

Supersport United and Cape Town City will contest the MTN8 final in Durban on Saturday..

Jimmy Tau is a big fan of the MTN8 and he’s pumped up for the final.  He gives BET Central his insights and predictions for the big game.

I’m a huge fan of the MTN8 Cup and this season is no different. Both teams have done really well to reach the final. They didn’t have easy roads to get there but had great results, especially in the semi-finals, to reach their shot at the trophy.

It’s also a great story to have a repeat of the 2017 final with both teams having experience of facing each other for the big prize of R8mil.

This will play into Supersport’s hands as they have last year’s win to fall back on and the advantage of being defending champions. They will be full of confidence as they look to defend their title.

Cape Town City will be slightly wounded from last year, but Benni McCarthy’s desire to earn his first trophy will drive them forwards.

I’m expecting Supersport to lift the trophy, but think that a repeat of last year’s final might be on the cards. It might take penalties to split these two teams and a 1-1 draw in normal time could be on the cards once again.

Mainly I’m looking forward to a great spectacle of football with both teams enjoying their moment in the spotlight after earning their spot. The crowd in Durban always come out in their numbers and this could create a festival atmosphere if it has been marketed well.

I’m also not writing off Cape Town City. They have a good coach and good players and they played very well to reach the final. If they bring their best to the final they could well spring a slight surprise.

You can see from the betting that the teams are hard to split. That’s why I’m going with Supersport to lift the trophy on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
