ANOTHER EPIC FEDERER V NADAL AT WIMBLEDON?

It’s over a decade since Roger Federer (37) and Rafael Nadal (33) put on one of the best matches of all-time at SW19 and the iconic pair will meet again at the Wimbledon semifinals on Friday.

Their epic championship match in 2008 is widely considered to be among the greatest matches in tennis history, such a part of tennis folklore that there is a book and a documentary rabout that single match.

The duo have a total Grand Slam singles titles haul totalling 38 – Federer is of course the favourite, Wilmbledom is his domain.

Working in the Spaniards’s favour is the fact it’s been a month since Nadal made light work of Federer at Roland Garros, he won in three straightforward sets.

Also, Nadal holds a lifetime 24-15 head-to-head edge, Federer had won five straight matches before the Roland Garros meeting and holds a 2-1 edge at the Wimbledon.

The pairs form at Wimbledon has been nothing short of impressive. Federer has smashed 206 winners at SW19 and he’s produced at a 2:1 winner-error ratio in three of them. His quarter-final victory made him the first man to earn 100 match wins at a Grand Slam championship.

Meanwhile, Nadal has been just as good. After getting past a testy Nick Kyrgios in the second round. Nadal has pushed on and got better as the competition progressed.

In his past three matches, he hit an incredible 109 winners to 34 unforced errors. Nadal’s path to the final four marks just the second time he’s only dropped one set at SW19. When he achieved the same feat in 2008, he went on to win the title over Federer.
