There’s plenty of fascinating horse racing action to look forward to this weekend with plenty of value on offer from .
Greyville (Saturday)
Race 1 – Mia’s Athena
Mia’s Athena is a 2-year-old filly taking on the boys in this opening contest at Greyville on Saturday. The Duncan Howells-trained daughter of Lancaster Bomber is highly-rated and showed glimpses of her ability in her debut run, where she finished second. Those formlines have been franked and its encouraging to see Keagan De Melo retain the ride. She should go one better here.
Race 4 – Quasiforsure
Quasiforsure returns to KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the Champions Season and made the first list of entries for the Durban July. The 4-year-old gelding drops back to 1400m where he is unbeaten over this course and distance. He gets the services of Tristan Godden on board, who has won both of his runs aboard this son of Quasillo.
Race 5 – Rosh Kedesh
Keagan De Melo’s best ride on Saturday seems to come in race 5 for the Dean Kannemeyer stable, when he takes the reins of Rosh Kedesh. The 3-year-old colt is drawn at gate 3 and won on his penultimate run over a similar starting point in Cape Town. He wasn’t at his best in his last run, but the drop in trip back down to 1400m should suit him to the ground.
Race 7 – Diana The Huntress
Diana The Huntress looks to be an impressive sort and looks to be to have a touch of class about her, so the wide draw of barrier gate 13 of 13 shouldn’t be much. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and the pair should be mowing them down over the last 200 metres with her exhilarant turn of foot.
Kenilworth (Sunday)
Race 1 – Ticket To Vegas
Ticket To Vegas has improved in each run and from draw 1, Devin Ashby should be able to guide this one home as this looks to be an extremely average field. This does look the one to bank the cash for the more difficult races to come later on in the day.
Race 3 – Future Swing
Future Swing has won his last three starts well and comes into this race fit and ready for a fourth successive victory. This 3-year-old colt looks very hard to oppose especially with Richard Fourie in the irons.
Race 6 – Bereave
Bereave blitzed them in the Diadem Stakes last time and does look like he is a class above the rest in this line-up. He gets Gavin Lerena aboard for the Adam Marcus yard and the pair do look to be too strong for this field. Banker him in all bets.
Race 8 – Touch Of Grace
Touch Of Grace has won her last 3 runs impressively. Aldo Domeyer retains the ride here and does look like she is the class of the race. She brings a golden opportunity for all multiples to close on and should repay her punters with another fantastic run. In this contest, it’s hard to see who the real danger is.
