There’s plenty of fascinating feature races this weekend coming your way from on Saturday, while there’s yet another blockbuster Sunday meeting at !

Greyville (Saturday)

Race 1 – Secret Identity

Michelle Rix will be hoping to dominate the big races in KwaZulu-Natal once again in the famous Ashwin Reynolds colours with Secret Identity looking like the filly to follow in race 1 on Saturday. The daughter of Canford Cliffs looked to be in need of the experience when running in Grade 3 in her debut run, where she lost as many as three lengths at the start. She takes on the maiden company here and gets the services of top jock, Richard Fourie. There’s been early betting support for her and she looks to be worth following here.

Race 3 – Indian Ocean

If you believe in good omens, then you should be in favour of the Johannesburg filly, Indian Ocean, who will be looking for a much better start over the KwaZulu-Natal coastline. Apart from her name, she does look to have the form to be the top selection, finishing an impressive fourth place on debut. The daughter of The United States is a well-bred filly for the Paul Matchett stable and should relish the step up in trip to 1900m from a mile.

Race 4 – Captain Fontane

Sentiments will have to be put aside as Captain Fontane looks to be the pick of the bunch, which includes the two-time Durban July-winning horse, Do It Again. The 5-year-old gelding is the perfect age for this race and ran on nicely in his last start, finishing second in his only attempt over this course and distance. All six of his wins have come in his home province and he does look tough to oppose once more.

Race 7 – Quasiforsure

Quasiforsure is living up to all the hype spoken about him and looks to be a progressive sort who can make the 1900m trip. He’s been entered for this year’s running of the Durban July and should come on nicely after this run. The son of Quasillo is yet to finish unplaced in his career and has won all three of his starts with Tristan Godden aboard. He renews his rivalry with Pacaya, who he should have beaten by a long shot in his penultimate run, had it not been for a clumsy error by the jockey on board that day. With Godden in the saddle, the pair look unbeatable in this contest.

Race 8 – Strawberry Bear

Tristan Godden is certainly worth following on Saturday as he jumps aboard Strawberry Bear for race 8. The speedy grey completed a hat-trick of wins last time out when holding on to beat Cousin Casey. He has shown plenty of pace in his career and will be even tougher to beat from a neat draw of gate 4 over 1200m.

Turffontein (Sunday)

Race 3 – Silver Tudor

S’manga Khumalo and Sean Tarry team up in race 3, bringing a nostalgic feeling to the game with Silver Tudor. The 3-year-old son of Lance returned to sprinting last time out which seemed to suit him to the ground as he won by over five lengths to come out the maidens. There have been multiple winners from the form line and he should make it back-to-back victories here.

Race 6 – Americamn Biscuit

The value bet on Sunday’s card comes in Race 6 in the form of American Biscuit. The son of Captain of All ran a decent second in his post-maiden start, and stayed on nicely, proving to have the stamina for further distances to come in his career. He doesn’t have the best gate speed, but from a neat draw and a small field to contend in, he should have some luck in running.

Race 7 – Supreme Quest

One of the best bets on the card comes in what actually seems to be the most competitive race on Sunday. The talented daughter of Querari has been taking on males and hasn’t disgraced herself in her last couple of starts. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride for the Corne Spies yard and has a handy mass of just 54.5kgs on his back. At decent odds, Supreme Quest looks worth a strike.
