12:45 | Race 1 – TAI HANG HANDICAP (CLASS 4)

starts off the day with a 2200m handicap. There’s a few local horses that have met on previous occassion, with enough collateral to fight out the finish.
This early selection is one of only 4 distance winners in the race, and the booking of Zac Purton is an eye catching one.

13:15 | Race 2 – WAN CHAI HANDICAP (CLASS 5)

Another handicap comes in , this time of 1800m. There’s not much quality in the race, so look out for those dropping in ratings to feature.
It’s been a while since its last win, but as a beaten favourite last time out, Joao Moreira will be looking to push it one better. It’s consistently in the places and this weak field could be its chance to pop up in the winner’s box.

13:45 | Race 3 – QUARRY BAY HANDICAP (CLASS 4)

The first 1600m race comes up in . Without having odds at this stage, it’s unclear how short some horses will start, but there is a standout favourite in my eyes.
This may start too short to be considered a viable bet, but the selection has the consistency you like to see when forecasting a handicap. If this course and distance winner doesn’t start too short a price, it could be a good place bet for multiples.

14:15 | Race 4 – NORTH POINT HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 4)

is a speed handicap over 1200m. Round the sharp Happy Valley bend we’ll be looking to those drawn inside to try beat some shorter selections.
Another consistent knocker who just benefit from the nice draw and a red-hot Karis Teetan in the irons. Beaten favourite last time out and 3 second places in 5 runs, this promising 3 year old should be right there.

14:45 | Race 5 – NORTH POINT HANDICAP (DIV II) (CLASS 4)

looks to be a trickier version of the previous race, with a few more candidate staking a claim in this 1200m race.
Zac Purton’s mount is lightly raced, with just the one start producing. Whilst a mediocre result, the debutant had a good barrier trial subsequent to it and the booking of Purton first time out suggests there’s promise. Based on some misfortune in running last time out, it’s worth another go in my opinion.

15:15 | Race 6 – FORTRESS HILL HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 3)

is a handicap over 1650m, with quite a few of these runners look to turnaround weak recent form.
This is selection is one of the few with solid showing to date, in fact two wins prior to his second place last time out suggest he’s still cherry ripe. With Moreira and drawn 2 the odds may be short for this, but I can’t see anything else that could win, barring an upset.

15:45 | Race 7 – CAUSEWAY BAY HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 3)

It’s likely the two fancied runners in over the 1200m will come from the inside gates.
It will likely start favourite but the Purton factor is almost always something for bookies to be aware of. Drawn 2 off a lighter weight than the higher rated Shining Gem in the 1 box, and following on from a trifecta of good place finished should be the recipe for success in this one.

16:50 | Race 9 – CAUSEWAY BAY HANDICAP (DIV II) (CLASS 3)

The last on the card, is one of the trickiest on the card. It’s likely to be a hot pace, which may see the fancied runner cut each other up upfront.
My hope is that experience prevails here and Moreira’s top weight ride has the goods. Consistency in its last few runs has to pay dividends soon, and no one can deliver from a wide draw like Joao can.
