Our 3 best bets for Happy Valley 10 June
Race 1 – RENFREW HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 4)
starts the night off in Class 4 company, with a 12 runner 1200m event. With the recent heavy rains in Hong Kong it will be interesting to see how the track plays out, but should things run to form our first fancy should be right there.
– The pace is likely to be mild in this one, which should suit this 3 year old perfectly. He’ll have to fight early to get to the front from draw 7, but once at the front will try to control the gallop round the bend. If he’s got enough in the tank down the straight, I don’t see him getting caught.
Race 6 – RENFREW HANDICAP (DIV III) (CLASS 4)
brings us a 12-runner handicap over 1200m. This field features mostly 3 and 4 year olds, suggesting the winner will likely come from a progressive youngster looking to progress into Class 3 races.
– This lightly raced 3 year old ticks that box. He started his career hot, winning just his second start, and last time out was returning from 6 months off the track. He finished a credible 5th, 3 lengths off the winner that day, and will look to get back to where he was pre-lay off. He was incredible hampered in running and eventually got a clear path to run on strong. With Moreira onboard he’s likely to start short, but include in multiple and system bets throughout the day.
Race 8 – HEREFORD HANDICAP (CLASS 3)
brings the last of our standout selections for Wednesday, with a fairly solid Class 3 field. The 12 runner race is over 1200m and our fancy has some strong recent form over the distance to suggest another win is in the making.
– This 3 year old has shot up the ratings with two wins and a second in his last three starts. Last time he was caught a bit too far back to get close to the winner, but his previous win suggest he needs to race handy from the start. Karis Teetan gets the ride again, and he’s in hot form too. From the 8 draw he’ll need to be alert to get across to the rail from the jump. The speed from the horses drawn inside him suggest he’s capable of getting there, and if he’s not left with much to do round the bend, could come home flying.
