South Africa v West Indies Third ODI: Prediction & Best Bets

South Africa take on the West Indies in the third and final ODI of the series at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom tomorrow.

South Africa West ODI

South Africa take on the West Indies in the third and final ODI of the series at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom tomorrow. The Proteas need to win this game to avoid a series defeat after losing the second ODI by 48 runs this past weekend. Lwanele Poswayo has prepared his best bets for this encounter.

Quinton De Kock

Considering he hadn’t played for more than one month, Quinton de Kock looked in great touch in the previous ODI, scoring 48 off 26 balls. He scored 31 runs from 13 balls bowled by seamer Alzarri Joseph as he took him to the cleaners in East London.

He looked disappointed when he lost his wicket, so I expect a motivated de Kock looking to score big in this match.

Jason Holder

Jason Holder went wicketless in the previous ODI and has a poor record against South Africa in this format. Since the start of the 2015 World Cup, he has accumulated figures of 3/270 from 43 overs (6.28rpo) against the Proteas. Bet on him to take under 1.5 wickets at reasonable odds of 1.54.

Fall Of 1st Wicket

This bet will be heavily dependent on which team bats first. If South Africa bat first, I expect de Kock and Bavuma to score more than 29.5 runs before the fall of the 1st wicket. South Africa’s last six opening partnerships in home ODIs were all more than 40 runs (76, 49, 77, 61, 46, 86).

Prediction

Before Saturday’s win, the Windies had lost 11 of their last 12 ODIs and took advantage of a slightly weakened and inexperienced Proteas side. Players like Aiden Markram and David Miller will most likely return to strengthen the middle order, so I’m backing South Africa to salvage the series at Senwes Park.
