Following the disappointing showing by Joburg Super Kings where they were beaten by Sunrisers Eastern Cape on home soil, Pretoria Capitals and MI Cape Town will both be smiling considering they all fighting to obtain the fourth-place finish. As Capitals are welcoming MI on Thursday 1 February at Centurion, a victory will put them in pole position to go through the next round.

The battle for the semi-finals continues with Pretoria Capitals entertaining MI Cape Town in front of the home crowd in the country’s capital city of Pretoria. This is going to be the first time these clubs are facing each other this season. This match forms one of the two clashes that will happen in a space of three days between these sides. Both sides are finding themselves in the basement of the league table fighting the way up. By the look of things, no one expected both sides to struggle like this. Their game is disappointing and it little too late to change it around.

A win for two will see one of the sides facing a hill climb to make it to the play-off round. So, the match Is do or die for both of them. MI is showing the struggling signs with four straight losses. Those are not the characteristics that will make them be trusted. In the last match against Joburg Super Kings, were outclassed completely in the rain-affected match. Batting first and posting 89 on the scoreboard after 8 overs, MI knew that total was worth a chase. Their bowling department had little to offer on the day to try and defend the total. That has been their story all season long. Their pacers are lacking momentum and can’t put the team under pressure.

Despite having the top batter Ryan Rickleton, the highest run go-getter in the second edition, MI is not coming into the party in terms of working as the unity. So sad to see. It is surprising that neither Kagiso Rabada, Keiron Pollard, and Sam Curran, with the experience they have, are out of firm and not able to deliver in a time of need. Meanwhile, the Capitals would be wondering what went wrong in their clash against the Durban Super Giants. Having to field first, the Capitals were in danger of conceding a mammoth total but did an exceptional job in the middle overs.

175 total is doable at Kingsmead but fell on the losing end. Today, no side will want to go down without a fight. All eyes will be on Will Jack’s for Capitals to start with the bat. For MI, Ricketon will be a huge threat as he has been all season and will be supported by Rassie Van Der Dussen to get their side out of the trouble.

What To Expect

Centurion has been offering some good cricket matches so far. Playing at home for the last time this season, the Capitals will want to end on a very high note. So, expect the clash to be open and produce big totals.
