Preview
It’s the Northern Derby as Delhi Capitals (DC) take on Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the second match of the IPL 2020 season. Last year, Delhi finally made it to the playoffs for the first time in seven years and finished third. On the other hand, KXIP have tended to start off well in the last couple of years. However, they seem to run out of gas in the second half of the tournament. But both teams look good on paper this time around.
The Capitals have a strong Indian core and are spoilt for choice. They have a problem of plenty at the top as they have Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in their ranks and will need to pick two out of the three. Moreover, they have a strong and powerful middle-order which includes the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin will lead the spin attack while Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada will be their premier fast bowlers.
KXIP have a solid top-order led by their skipper KL Rahul. With the addition of Glenn Maxwell, their middle-order wears a dynamic look. Mandeep Singh and Sarfaraz Khan will likely form the lower middle-order. KXIP have quite a few options with the ball. Chris Jordan, Sheldon Cottrell and Mujeeb Ur Rahman will be their premier overseas options and they might play two out of the three. In the Indian contingent, Mohammad Shami is going to spearhead the attack with the young and impressive Ravi Bishnoi taking up the spin duties alongside all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham.

KL Rahul: The newly-appointed KXIP skipper has been in magnificent form over the last couple of years in white-ball cricket. Rahul has topped the batting charts for the side in the last two IPL seasons and will be the one to watch out for once again this season.
Rishabh Pant: Like Rahul, Pant has also been dominating the IPL for a couple of seasons now. He has been excellent for Delhi and has the ability to turn matches on its head. He is going to be a key batsman in the middle-order for Delhi.
Kagiso Rabada: The ace South African pacer was brilliant last season as he picked up 25 wickets in just 12 games and was one of the big reasons why Delhi were successful. He will be leading the pace attack once again and is going to be a strike bowler.
