The Royal Challengers Bangalore will host Chennai Super Kings on Monday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both sides have had a decent start to IPL 2023, winning two and losing two. Lwanele Poswayo has prepared his betting tips for this encounter.
Betting Preview
The home side won their previous game by 23 runs against Delhi Capitals while the visitors Chennai were defeated by Rajasthan Royals in their previous game. CSK are the underdogs going into this contest at 2.00 and are very tempting at that price.
RCB have been decent this season with captain Faf du Plessis and his opening partner Virat Kohli in fantastic form. The latter has been impressive this season, scoring three fifties already and striking at 147.59. He has scored 31.4% of RCB’s runs in this year’s tournament with Faf du Plessis contributing 28.9% (197 / 681). I’m backing Kohli to score another half-century at 3.25.
CSK’s opening duo are also in good form, with Ruturaj Gaikwad recording scores of 92, 57 and 40* in his first three games. CSK have an in-form top order with New Zealand’s Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane also in good form. They should have enough to cause RCB’s bowlers problems on a surface that’s good for batting.
CSK are good value in this game, despite their injury woes in the bowling department. Back them to get over the line at 2.00.
Key Stat
RCB conceded the most sixes in each of the last five H2Hs (total: 50).
Chennai’s average powerplay score when batting first is 60/1 and 65/1 when bowling first this year.
RCB have posted the highest opening partnership and accumulated the most powerplay runs in all four games in 2023.
In six of the ten IPL innings in which they faced off as bowler and batter respectively, Ravindra Jadeja has dismissed Glenn Maxwell for career figures of 6/49.
Ajinkya Rahane currently has a strike-rate of 200 in the 2023 IPL. His previous best was 137.89 in the 2019 IPL.
Wayne Parnell or David Willey could pose a threat to Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Super Kings opener has fallen to left-arm seamers 11 times in 19 innings since IPL 2020.
