IPL 2023: Best Bets For The Weekend

We have the best bets for this weekend’s IPL matches as Gujarat Titans begin the defence of their title against Chennai Super Kings.

IPL Best Bets

There’s plenty of cricket action to bet on this weekend with the 2023 IPL edition getting underway this afternoon as defending champions Gujarat Titans square off against sentimental favourites Chennai Super Kings. Lwanele Poswayo has the best bets for this weekend’s first three matches.

Weekend Fixtures

Friday 31 March 16:00 – Gujarat Titans v Chennai Super Kings

Saturday 01 April 12:00 – Punjab Kings v Kolkata Knight Riders

Saturday 01 April 16:00 – Lucknow Super Giants v Delhi Capitals

Sunday 02 April 12:00 – Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals

Sunday 02 April 16:00 – Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians

Gujarat Titans v Chennai Super Kings

Friday 31 March 16:00

A player that stands out for me in this game is Devon Conway, who has scored at least 56 in three of his last six IPL matches, each time hitting at least six boundaries. He is one of my players to watch this season and I expect him to get off to a good start by scoring another 50+ score.

The all-time first-innings average score in IPL at this venue is 154 so I expect a low-scoring game even though a new surface has been relaid. Gujarat’s bowling will more likely look to put a squeeze on CSK. Bet on the under for the highest individual score.

Punjab Kings v Kolkata Knight Riders

Saturday 01 April 12:00

Punjab Kings have won their opening IPL games for the past two seasons and I see that continuing in this game. They also posted the largest powerplay score 10 times in 2022, compared with just 5 times for Kolkata Knight Riders. I back them to score more runs in the first 6 overs in this game.

A player I like for this game is Arshdeep Singh, who’ll be key for Punjab Kings along with Sam Curran and Kagiso Rabada. The absence of Rabada in this game should see Arshdeep end up as the hosts’ top bowler.

Lucknow Super Giants v Delhi Capitals

Saturday 01 April 16:00

Lucknow Super Giants will be without Quinton de Kock for this game, which will affect their run-rate in the Powerplay. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have an explosive opening pair in David Warner and Prithvi Shaw. DC scored the most powerplay runs in 11 matches last season, whilst Lucknow did so just 3 times.
