IPL 2020: Qualifier 1 – Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals Preview, Prediction, Probable Playing XI and Value bets.

Betting Preview

The first Qualifier of Dream 11 IPL will witness Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) battle it out for the first spot in the finals. A defeat for either of the side will not mean the end of the road and they will face the winner of Eliminator in Qualifier-2 for another shot. MI dominated DC in both of their league games this season. DC, who had looked very good in the first half of the tournament, ran out of steam in the latter stages. It got so bad, they lost four of their last five games.

Mumbai Indians have once again emerged as the strongest and the most consistent side in this year’s IPL. They look well on track for a fifth title win. They come into the game after a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad but the defeat won’t hurt them as they had rested Bumrah, Boult and Pandy. The return of Rohit Sharma into the team after being forced to sit out for four games will add confidence.

However, Mumbai’s batting has been remarkable throughout the tournament with SuryaKumar Yadav, Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan in fine form and delivered when the situation demanded. Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya have looked dangerous and are striking the ball well at the back end. The depth in their batting could potentially torment the DC bowlers. When it comes to bowling, MI have the strongest attack in the tournament with Boult and Bumrah. The duo are looking lethal and can rock any batting line-up on their day. They are well complemented by Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya who have managed to restrict runs in the middle overs.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have been very inconsistent and their form has been shaky. After starting the tournament well, they were cruising towards a top-four finish at the halfway mark but a dramatic dip in their form saw them losing four games in a row. They held on to their nerves and brought their A-game in their final encounter against RCB to emerge victorious in a must-win game. They had made a lot of changes in the playing XI and that finally paid off in their last league game.

The addition of Daniel Sams as a fifth bowler strengthens their bowling even more. The South African duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have found their form again after looking off-colour recently. Rahane was brilliant in the last game and delivered when it mattered most. The batting, however, still looks unstable. Shikhar Dhawan has found himself among runs but has also been extremely inconsistent. Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have failed to make a significant impact which has resulted in a batting collapse on multiple occasions. Rahane was brilliant in the last game and delivered when needed. All in all, Mumbai looks the much stronger side on paper and will look to exploit Delhi’s poor form to their advantage.

Injury and Availability News

No major injury concern for either of the sides. Rohit Sharma returned to action in the last match and will be expected to take the field in this game as well.

Probable Playing XI

Key Players to watch out for

Quinton de Kock: MI’s’ most consistent batsman this season, de Kock has also been their leading run-scorer with 443 runs in his 14 matches at an average of 36.91. He’s scored a total of four half-centuries in the tournament and Mumbai will depend on him yet again to give them a solid start in the powerplay.

Jasprit Bumrah: One of the world’s best, Bumrah has bowled exceptionally well this season. He is Mumbai’s highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets in just 13 games. He is only behind Rabada in the purple cap race. His sensational spells in the death overs has turned matches around in Mumbai’s favour on multiple occasions.

Kagiso Rabada: The fiercest weapon in Delhi’s arsenal, Rabada has had a phenomenal run in this season barring two bad games where he went wicketless. He is the highest wicket-taker in the league and has 25 wickets in 14 games. He and Nortje make a deadly pace combination that has troubled the best of the batsmen. Rabada will look to live up to his reputation and give Delhi crucial breakthroughs in his spell.
