Host Carl Lewis chats with cricket writer about South African left-hand batter, Ryan Rickelton, who is expected to return to the Proteas Test side against England in the third and deciding Test.
Only in his early 20s at present, Ryan Rickelton has been a part of Gauteng since 2015. With a terrific average of 45.75 in first-class cricket alongside his wicket-keeping skills, Rickelton has notched up five centuries in the format. Although dismissed for a duck in his debut first-class innings, the youngster showed character to bounce back and play determined and courageous knocks in the next few innings.
He has been the leading run-getters in a few of the tournaments for Gauteng, the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge and 2017–18 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup, two of which he scored 351 runs and 562 runs respectively. The young wicket-keeper batsman was named in Highveld Lions squad in June 2018 and named in the Cricket South Africa Emerging Squad in July 2018. He’s one of those batsmen who can score the fifties easily but fails to convert those scores into big ones – one of the aspects, Rickelton needs to work on.
