We are now into the business end of the competition and have seen all nations play three times. We have a better understanding of their form and their potential to go far in this tournament. We take a loot at who are the best bets to reach the semi-final and to win Euro 2020
To Reach Semi-Final
Individual awards are great, but it’s how each team performs overall that will really contribute to them winning the tournament. Looking at each nation’s path to the final, it seems like France have the most favourable run to reach the semi-finals, which is decently priced up at .
France have to overcome the Swiss hurdle, before playing the winner of Croatia (7.00) and Spain (2.75) should they go through. It certainly seems doable for Les Bleus and from all the teams to have a punt on to reach the latter stages, France seems to be the best bet to do so.
The next best bet would be the Netherlands, simply because of their route to the semi-finals and who they can square up against in the next two rounds. The Netherlands have the Czech Republic first up in their way, and would then face the winner of Denmark and Wales , which, with all due respect, looks to be another promising affair.
If you are looking to keep the adrenaline pumping, Portugal could be one to look out for as well for . Ronaldo has been in sublime form during the tournament and you just can’t back against him or his teammates with much confidence at the moment. They do, however, face Belgium in the Round of 16 and could follow that up with a tie against Italy , who should beat Austria in all fairness.
To Win Euro 2020
I suppose many people have taken a liking to Italy and the Netherlands at this stage of the tournament, but with both nations having a fairly inexperienced side at this level, makes me doubt them and opt to back one of the bigger guns instead.
France are one of my personal favourites, while I still haven’t given up on Portugal , who offer magnificent value at 11.00. Looking at how the two European juggernauts faced up against each other, they went pound for pound and toe for two, while they also have all the pedigree in the world as Portugal are current holders of the Euros and UEFA Nations League, while France are champions of the world after winning the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
For value purposes and the fact that Portugal have a monstrous Ronaldo in their ranks, I’m still going to make them my fancy, although it is a close toss-up between them and France.
